This is the theme for the CAS Mix Up Challenge this time around and there is some great inspiration from the design team as well as links to some tutorials. I'm afraid I was unable to lay my hands on any glossy magazines to use so I stamped the floral motif onto white card using glimmer gold ink and then heat embossed with detail gold powder. The colouring was done using Twinkling H2O's (a real blast from the past) and then I fussy cut the motif. I then unearthed a large swirly stamp to use as a background on the card base, added the 'cloisonne brooch' and a sentiment.
Floral Motif - Ruby Tuesday Design a Flower from Elusive Images (now Chocolate Baroque)
Swirl - Nature Swirls from Chocolate Baroque
Sentiment - from my favourite freebie sentiment stamp set
You were brave to try this Val, and what a lovely result you got! Xxx

Hi Val,
ReplyDeleteyou achieved a lovely result with your technique and it's so colourful as well.
Love the stamoed swirls behind it and that sentiment stamp is sure a pretty one no wonder it's your fave.
The Mandala reminds me of some old Wooden Mandala stamps I have from years and years ago which we used to colour and glitter not sure if you remember them, can't remember who used to demo them.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Very eye catching card Val, stunning colours…H2o’s certainly are a blast from the past but they are a lovely medium to us

ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me I still have my twinkling H2O's too! What a very pretty and colorful card! NJ
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card Val. H2O's, I have a box full of them somewhere I really should get them out and use.

Goodness me I have led a sheltered life! Never heard of cloisonne or how to faux it. Lol. Looked at the 3 tutorials so do know now. It gives a lovely effect. Like Sue I have a pot of H2O's in a draw and haven't used them for years and years. Love your beautiful flower. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteThe Twinkling H2Os give wonderful shimmer to this faux cloisonné flower, Val! It's so pretty against this lovely flourish! Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!

ReplyDeleteThe faux cloisonne flower looks beautiful coloured with the H2O's Val, and I love the added swirls and the sentiment inked in the same colour to bring it all together. x
