I started following the blog by Sue Wilson and she certainly posts some beautiful cards which are always quite elaborate and she also has videos from time to time. One recent one showed how you can emboss using cutting dies and I decided to try it out for myself on this card. I think now it is done that I should have gone for a larger card base but at the moment I've not launched into the 8 x 8 cards and don't actually have any. I smile to myself when I think that when I moved up to six inch square cards I felt it was a large space to fill!! I also think I will probably add pearls to the corners on this one but I do quite like the idea and will try it with some of my other dies.

Laughter
The theme on Make My Monday this week is 'a card to make you laugh' and as time is a bit short I decided to make up a quick and hopefully amusing card using Craft Artist. Not much more to be said about this except that hopefully it will amuse someone.

Magazine Freebies
Those who follow my blog will know I often can't resist buying magazines for their give aways but what I haven't said is that sometimes I come across them months later and realise I've not actually used them. The stamps used here are a good example so I set about challenging myself to design a card around some of the stamps in this set. I must go through my boxes and see if there any other stamp sets sitting in their unopened packets!!

Yellow Roses
I came across this background which I made a couple of years ago as a demonstration sample showing masking techniques. The stamp used was from a set by Docraft when they produced several 'build a flower' designs which contained a whole flower head image and several other stamps for as many layers of petals as you felt you'd like to colour and cut out. This is the 'build a rose' and I've just used the whole flower head stamped a few times onto post-it notes, cut out and used as masks to produce this background which was then sponged with distress ink. I then used some of my scraps to cut banners and stamped a rose design from Stampin'Up Best of Flowers collection. I must say this card is more cheerful than the weather today which is typical 'Bank Holiday grey' but it does look as if it might brighten later - fingers crossed.

Snippets Week 126
For the Pixies Snippets challenge this week I've used a free embossing folder - yes I've bought yet another magazine with a give away but I really liked the look of this one and thought it could be useful!! That's my excuse anyway. Once the panel was embossed I sponged with some ink and then added the other elements. I forgot to mention that as well as the folder there was a freebie sentiment stamp too (double bargain). There is a great prize on offer this week so good luck everyone.
