Funky Hand challenge

The challenge over at Funky Hand this month is to follow sketch which is something I enjoy doing.  I've used papers from Craft the Year Away CD and chosen a couple from the July selection.  I printed a tree image from the CD onto patterned paper and then die cut some small flowers from the left over backing papers to adorn the tree.  It is worth keeping an eye on their blog during the month to see what the various Design Team members come up with for inspiration using funky Hand products.

Bah Humbug Challenge 25

The challenge this week at Bah Humbug is penguins so they aren't making things too difficult which is good.  I've chosen an image from a Jayne Netley Mayhew CD by Joanna Sheen which I've had for a quite a while but had almost forgotten about until I tidied up my CDs the other day so that I could see what was what.  I'm not sure how long they will stay tidy but that's another story.  I used matching backing paper and sentiment from the CD and the die cut poinsettia was cut from the same paper with a Marianne die.  This weekly challenge is a great idea because it is only June and I have at least 25 seasonal cards made already - thanks girls!!

Bah Humbug Challenge 24

This weeks challenge at Bah Humbug is 'Scarves and Mittens'  and I've chosen to use a 'stampie' image from Polkadoodles Sundae of Seasons CD with background paper from the same CD.  The image was printed a few times so that I could cut out elements to layer onto Nestabilities labels for a bit of dimension.  This is such a cute and quirky snowman typical of the kind of image produced by Nicky and fortunately he is wearing scarf and mittens  The sentiment was produced on the computer and I added a couple of Spellbinder snowflakes in glitter card and some  ribbon with spots which I thought looked like snow.

Well - sorry folks Mr Blogger doesn't seem to want to load my image at the moment so please watch this space!!

Beaded Christmas Tree

I was telling a friend about a beaded Christmas ornament which I was making yesterday and she asked me to put it on here so that she could see it.  This was more or less my first venture into square stitch (apart from trying a little bit to learn the technique when I started beadwork) and at the moment I'm not sure it is a stitch I will want to use a lot. Despite using Delica beads which are regular in size I'm not sure it is as even a result as I imagined it would be and although they all came from the same source it would appear that the red ones used for the pot were marginally bigger because it is from that point that the rows seem to be a bit wavy.  I know that somewhere in my stash I have some little wire coat hangers which I bought for cards but could I find them??  No - so I twisted up a bit of wire to make a hanger.  I don't think I will be going into production with these as they would take too long to make unless the card was for someone very special.
