Bah Humbug Challenge 25

The latest challenge from Bah Humbug is 'less is more' which I've interpreted as meaning a simple elegant card.  I must say I found it really difficult to resist the urge to add some embellishments to the finished card!  I used a large bauble stamp from Papermania which appeared before last Christmas and just as quickly disappeared - I and I'm sure many other people searched in vain to buy one. Luckily I spotted it earlier this year and quickly snapped one up because I liked it so much.  I simply stamped with Versamark ink pad and gold embossed on cream card, added a narrow red border and mounted it onto a plain green card - definitely 'less is more' I would say.

Christening Card

My great neice is being christened this weekend so I have made her this card - I hope they like it.  Stamp is by Liliofthevalley and coloured with pencils, background papers are from Rose Garden by Papermania as are the die cut letters.  The flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts have been tipped with pink using a Promarker.

A Bracelet

A kind friend took me to a Bead Fair a couple of weeks ago and I managed to buy the beads to make this bracelet designed by Jennifer Airs which I've been wanting to try for a long time.  It is in Peyote stitch using different sizes and types of beads ranging from size 11 seed beads up to size 5 triangles with other sizes of seed beads, triangles and drop beads in between.  The use of varying sizes with this stitch results in a three dimensional effect.

Chalked Hydrangea

This was another attempt to make something from the clear stamp set which so disappointed me by being too 'solid'. This time I stamped using Versamark ink pad and applied shimmer chalks.  On the whole I think this is rather more successful than trying to apply ink pads selectively to clear stamps as I always find it difficult to see where I am putting which colour. Background paper and ribbon fromSstampin Up with an oddment of paper from my bits box.

Paper Flowers

This card uses some mulberry paper (remember that?) and some hand made paper flowers both of which were unearthed during one of my many tidy-ups. A simple card with just some eyelets and glitter added to the flowers and a greeting punched out with a Stampin Up punch. The leaves were punched from some scraps of green card.  I'm really trying to use up some of the craft items which I seem to have had forever.
