Spotlight Technique

Trawling around YouTube (as you do!) I was reminded of this spotlight technique which is something I'd not come across for quite a while so I decided to have a little play using a floral  two-layer stamp.. The first stamping was done onto a label shape using a black outline and infilling with grey before stamping for a second time onto a scrap of card but this time infilling with colour.  This second image was then punched out into a circle and  carefully edged with a black pen.  Next I stamped the sentiment onto the label and added the 'spotlight' over the floral image, lining it up carefully and adding another circle of card behind to lift it slightly..  When having a tidy up recently I came across a pack of card blanks with embossing on the fronts so I trimmed one of them into a single layer before brushing some colour around the edges to highlight the pattern.  A scattering of matching gems and that's another card made.

At last the weather seems to be a little less chilly than it's been of late, yesterday was a lovely dry and sunny day and today is supposed to be dry again although at the moment no sign of the sunshine.  Hopefully it will remain reasonable for this holiday weekend.

Chicks Create a Scene

Back again with some more chicks - this time in a little scene framed by an octagon.  Started with the frame and then cut a piece of white card using the same outer die.  This was then brushed with blue and green to form a background and the frame was added lining it up carefully. I then fiddled about for ages with chicks and other components until I'd found a scene which I thought was pleasing before sticking them down, finally adding a slightly larger brown octagon and putting it onto a kraft card blank.
