Flying Crane

I often seem to end up with pieces of background paper cut to size for a card and then in the end not used. I always do a sort of 'dry run' with my layouts and sometimes decide that certain elements aren't quite right so they get put aside.  The paper here is one such piece which I was determined to use so I started with that and then stamped the crane and dragonflies onto card from the bits box, cut out with a Stampin' Up Sizzix die - the stamps are from a clear set by Chocolate Baroque. As this die is quite large all that was needed was a greeting popped onto one of the smaller die shapes, a corner and a few gems. It is a lovely sunny morning at the moment, hopefully it will last because I'm being taken out today to see the seasonal display at a garden centre - always impressive and I think lunch out is the plan too so that has to be good.

  2. Fab card Val, love those dragonflies and the crane, so pretty. The BP compliments them perfectly. I won't get to see you next weekend as I have had to withdraw from the SU extravaganza. Charlie is being christened on the Sunday and I am needed to help with the food etc! Karen is going to bring all the goodies up for me but I hope you have a lovely day:)

  4. Love the way that corner highlights the pattern of the paper. The creane is a real beauty & so effective with these neutral colours.
Enjoy your day out. Dull & damp here.

  5. Beautiful card Val and I know exactly what you mean about discarded decorative elements. I have at least a couple of boxes full and am very naughty at not using them. Love the shape of that die and the crane image is lovely. I like how you chose not to colour it too.

    Hope your lunch was good!

  6. Love the colour/pattern combo here - it is so perfectly Japanese in feel so ideal for that beautiful crane image. So glad I'm not the only one with piles of stuff which doesn't make it onto a card and then ends up being perfect for another:) Hugs, Buttons x
