Dorset Buttons

I attended a short workshop on Saturday at Bower Hinton Workshops to make traditional Dorset buttons. We started with the basic Blandford wheel and then were shown some variations. I made a few over the weekend and when I was partway to finishing the brown one I thought it looked a bit like a pollarded willow tree so took a picture before I made it into the tree with blossom which will have a pin sewn to the back to be worn as a brooch.

  1. What a lovely workshop that must have been. I've never heard of those buttons before but these are really lovely.

I'm just trying to catch up on all the lovely blog posts there have been while I've been away for a couple of days. You've made some lovely things as always!

  5. I have been trying to find unusual buttons for some knitting projects and happened across some Pinterest posts. I think these are very pretty and definitely unusual. I plan to try to make some myself soon.
