Colouring

I do enjoy a bit of colouring so I stamped these poppies onto white card and spent a quiet afternoon colouring them with pencils.  The background paper was printed from a CD and the lace border, rectangle and sentiment were all produced from pieces of card in my snippets collection.

While They Were Out ...

While these stamps were out on my desk I decided to make another card using two of the smaller ones from the set and of course three more pieces of my huge supply of card candi.  Similar in colours to the previous one, I used a piece of dotty paper as a background, stamping the oak leaves and acorns on a cream rectangle and the oak tree onto a small circle.  The sentiment was also stamped onto the rectangle - made so much easier by using the Misti stamp positioning gizmo.

It seems to be wall to wall sunshine here at the moment and luckily the stiff breeze seems to have died down which is good.

Trees

The stamp used on this card is one of my all time favourites and I've had the set so long it is one of the original wood-mounted kind.  I'm not too sure if it is still available but I know it was fairly recently because I spotted it in a catalogue.  On this occasion I've used it for a 'Sympathy' card although it is very versatile. I feel this type of cards needs to be fairly simple so I just stamped onto some green card, die cut into an oval and backed it with some brown.  A simple banner with the stamped words and a couple of pieces of  'card-candi'.  Reminder to self - I must try to use this more often because I have probably thousands of these embellishments in many colours.

Crazy Birds

These bird stamps can be used for all sorts of cards and this time I've combined two of them along with suitable words.  Stamped onto white card stock and coloured with pencils.  A 'brick wall' was embossed and sponged and some rectangular dies used to cut out the image.  The main part of the wording was stamped onto the bird plaque (using the Misti of course) and the second part of the phrase stamped onto some white card and cut into a banner.  The simple addition of a die cut feather completes this quirky card.  I stamped and coloured a couple more of the birds so the next job is to make something different with them. before they find their way into 'snippets storage'.

Wild Flowers

Yesterday I spent some time using Distress Oxide inks to colour up a couple of pieces of watercolour paper, then couldn't decide what to do with them so they were left on my desk and I sat down and did some crochet instead.  Today I decided I really must get motivated to see what they could be used for and I settled on die cutting some flowers and foliage.  Luckily I'd coloured a piece using greens and the other in various pinks, mauve and yellow.  The butterfly background was a piece from a quite old pad from Sizzix (Tim Holtz) and I added a strip of die cut lace and a Birthday greeting before arranging the leaves and flowers, tying a bow in some jute string to finish it off.  I still have some of the inky pieces left so they will probably appear on another card or two before too long.

Quite a dull start to the day today but now the sky is blue and the sun is shining again.

Snippets Challenge #378

My card for the Pixie Snippets Playground Challenge this time has only one snippet which is quite unusual for me because I do try to use up my snippets mountain whenever I can without cutting into new pieces of card or paper.  The snippet used was the black piece for die cutting the roofscape - not sure if this is actually a word but you will see what I mean.  This was quite a quick card to make and is quite simple really using a strip of sky paper which came from a magazine freebie and just layering the die cut on top.  The moon was achieved by sponging some yellow ink through a mask made by punching a circle into a piece of scrap paper.  The sentiment was made on the computer using 'Word'.  Again there is a great prize on offer for the person whose name is pulled out of the hat and Di has made us a super card using lots of narrow strips of patterned paper - such accuracy and so much patience.

Dandelion

I've not posted on the blog for over a week due in part to the fact that I've  not been feeling too good this week - no not the dreaded virus thank goodness but an attack of vertigo which is no fun at all.  It seems to have passed and I'm back to what passes for normal!!  I looked through my photos and spotted this card which I made a while ago.  I started by using a circular stamping plate (like a mini gel plate) which was inked with Distress Oxide inks and stamped onto a scrap of white watercolour paper.  I then added a few stamped splodges using the same colours.  The die cut frame was one which was lying around just waiting to be used.  A dandelion die set was used to cut the decoration from another scrap of pearl card and a computer generated sentiment cut out and added.

I beautiful sunny day in this part of the country but none to warm with - quite a frost first thing this morning.
