Another week has rushed by, ending with a day of continuous rain yesterday and with more to come according to the forecasts - yuk!! For my Pixie Snippets card this week I've used up various bits and pieces which were littering my workspace. mostly left over from previous projects where they'd been 'auditioned' for a card and then rejected for one reason or another. Luckily I managed to match them up with suitable snippets of paper and card.

Rose Card
This card is one which I actually made some time ago but haven't posted on here (at least I don't think so). Although it is a birthday card I think the design would work well for Valentine's Day with a more suitable sentiment. The stamp is one I've had for quite a while and is a favourite which this time was embossed before colouring with pencils.

A Busy Week
I've had a very busy week meeting friends for coffee and some crafty chat, different friends for lunch on another day, going to patchwork group and also a craft group as well as fitting in the boring stuff like food shopping and 'domestic' stuff - all of which means I've not posted a blog since last Sunday. Finally yesterday I spent a very enjoyable morning at a quilling workshop with the talented Jill of Jill's Quills where we were offered various design options including a selection of flowers or this quirky frog to make. I thought he would make a good card to cheer someone up if they were feeling a bit under the weather and as various snippets of card and ribbon were incorporated I'm putting it into the challenge for Pixie Snippets this week. I found a suitable snippet of plaid background paper; some bits and pieces of card for the die cut shapes and also ribbon snippets just to finish off with a couple of bits of Card Candi. The frog as you see was made from snippets of quilling paper and I carried him home carefully so that I could build up the card once I got back amongst my scraps.
Apologies for the quality of the picture but it is far too dull to take a photo this morning so I had to resort to the scanner which isn't ideal for a dimensional card like this.

Pixie Snippets Playground week 213
My offering for the playground challenge this week uses some snippets of fabric rather than card so I hope I won't be sent to stand in the corner!! I wanted to try out one of the patterns on Debbie Shore's CD 'Pretty Little Purses' so I dug out some snippets of fabric - actually some left overs of a curtain for the outer layer and snippets from a toning flat cotton sheet for lining and to trim the bow. Both of these were lucky charity shop finds from which I've already stitched quite a few projects. I'm sure you can imagine that I still have some left as it is amazing just how many bags, pouches etc can be made from this type of fabric find. This little clutch purse has a clever bow across the front which acts as a fastening for the flap to just tuck in so no zips or magnetic clasps involved. Strips of patterned fabric with narrower strips of lining were stitched so that when pressed the pattern fabric forms a narrow border on the edges - very nifty.
Clever Di has made a pretty 'inchie' style card to inspire us this week using some of her snippets and as usual there are some great picks chosen from last week's entries to see if you follow the link to take a look and maybe even enter something yourself - as usual a great prize on offer.

Tangled Fun(gi)
I thought it was about time I revisited Zentangle drawing - such a long time since I did any and I really enjoy this mindful activity in much the same way, I imagine, as so many people have been drawn to the adult colouring which seems to have come to the fore. I copied the outline drawing of these fungi, filling them with various tangles as they popped into my head once I'd had a little browse through some of my books. I've used some bits and pieces of coloured papers and card to make a birthday card. It is a beautiful sunny day with blue skies today but very cold - much nicer than the dark, wet and windy day we had yesterday.

Pixie Snippets challenge 212
Somehow I've not managed to post a card on my blog since last Sunday - busy week one way and another. My offering for the Pixie Snippets challenge this week is a card suitable for a man using up yet another small scrap of the Brusho'd background I produced recently along with some other matching bits and pieces from the scrap boxes. The stamp is an old faithful, stamped onto black card and gold embossed; background paper was another remnant; the Brusho'd piece was embossed and treated to some gilding wax and finally a greeting added on a banner. Di has made an interesting card this week from an idea she spotted in a recent magazine and very helpfully has given some measurements so do take a look at that one as it is something a bit different which is always handy to come across when seeking inspiration.

Pixie Snippets 211
I was one of the lucky winners in the big give-away event from Pixie Snippets challenge and thought I would use my prize before I finally put away all the Christmas bits and pieces still lying around on my desk. This Woodware stamp lends itself to many interpretations and I decided to go with paper piecing in an effort to use up more of my snippets. There was enough of the chosen background paper to stamp the image onto and cut out the numbers and the holly leaves and berries were cut from other bits and pieces. The image was then stamped onto a piece of white, mounted onto a red snippet which had been embossed with a snowflake design. A circular greeting was popped onto a scalloped circle and there it is my offering this week for Pixie snippets. Di has chosen some great picks from last week's entries and also made a very pretty butterfly card so do pop along and take a look.
