Make My Monday Challenge

Over at Make My Monday they are asking for us to use our two favourite colours which up to a point could be difficult because I have so many 'favourites' especially when used together as a combination.  I am often drawn to autumnal colours so have made this card using a great tiger stamp by Sheena Douglass and of course it is basically orange and brown.  Background was made using a distress embossing folder on kraft card, inked with a darker brown and gilded with gold wax.  The image was stamped onto watercolour paper and coloured using Inktense pencils - a couple of leaves from the same stamp set were stamped, heat embossed and gilded.

Pixie Snippets Week 164

I started entering the Pixie Snippets challenge originally in an effort to use up some of my huge mountain of scraps and bits and pieces but I often seem to make even more in the process - this week being a prime example.  I usually start by seeing what miscellaneous die cuts,  punched shapes, scraps etc are actually still on my desk, then go to the scrap boxes to find matching pieces of card and paper before trying various combinations and layouts.  I particularly wanted to use the Sue Wilson border die set and I had the cream fancy oval shape already cut so I set about cutting more shapes to layer and a selection of flowers and leaves but when it came to assembling everything I found that these (the flowers) didn't 'work' so you see that is just how I've now ended up with a little pile of snippets which are at the moment surplus to requirements,  Details of what I actually used are under the image as usual.  The border die is interesting in that it actually has two separate outer cutting edges which means it can be used either way up on the edge of a piece of card or cut out completely as I've done here.

Another snippets Card

I've just made another card which I realise could qualify for the Pixie Snippets challenge because it is  a mixture of die cutting, embossing, stamping and punching all using snippets of kraft and cream card - details of items used are below. The larger lacy die was used to cut out from the cream layer before embossing only with the matching outline die and the smaller dies from the set used to layer up for the sentiment.

Poppies

I've chosen poppies for Pixie Snippets challenge this week and again apart from the background everything else was produced from snippets around my craft room.  I stamped the poppies in white onto kraft card and embossed with white detail powder before colouring with pencils (Polychromos). More layers were cut from various scraps to tone with the background; sentiment was computer generated and popped onto some die cut shapes; finally a snippet of leafy die cut and some matching card candi were added - why is it my snippets pile never seems to get any smaller???

Pixie Snippets Challenge

A sheet of decoupage came my way recently and rather than just filing it away I decided to make use of it to make a couple of  cards, one of which should fit with the Pixie Snippets challenge.  The designs are from Docraft and I've added snippets of backing paper from my stash along with some snippets of pink card which has been diecut for the panels and I also managed to squeeze three little  butterflies from the remainder.

Bright and Cheery

The challenge this week at Make My Monday is to use bright and cheery colours so I've used an image from the CD with 'Alice' images and printed off the Mad Hatter; searched through my bits boxes for some bright colours of card to match and here we have it - a bright and cheery card.

Snippets challenge 161

The more observant (and inquisitive) of you may spot something purchased recently which entitled me to the free floral stamp set used in a recent post - let the cat out of the bag really didn't I??  I've used a different feather stamp which has a matching die to make this card for the Pixie Snippets challenge this week (and yes I know I have the free feather set but these ones were already on order when I was tempted by the magazine!!). What a good thing that feathers seem to be popular at the moment.  The largest snippet is a left over piece of Prima paper and everything else is cut from snippets of card from the bits boxes.  Just right to pop into the box for a male card I thought.
