Forgotten Friday 13

I hope you are all enjoying the wonderful weather we are having at the moment. Friday came around so quickly this week that I missed it but I have managed a card for Judith's challenge Forgotten Friday  albeit a day late. I realised I was a bit short of New Home cards so I dug out my Cottage stamps by Elusive Images (now Chocolate Baroque) which I bought when they were issued and I'm sure I've not actually used all of the lovely designs yet.  Background paper is from  the Echoes of Italy collection and has been overstamped with a Tall Trees image (also Chocolate Baroque).  The image was stamped onto watercolour paper and coloured with Polychromos pencils.  The sentiment was computer generated and popped onto a fancy tag from Spellbinders.  An EK Success punch was used on the lower layer.


                                      

Vintage Forever Friends

Who doesn't like Forever Friends images?  This one is from a stamp set by Papermania and I used the 'outside the box' technique with a Nestabilities die and coloured with pencils.  Background papers are from my stash and a Cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder was used for one of the layers.  Sentiment was stamped onto a Tim Holtz die cut ticket.

Bah Humbug Challenge 15

The challenge over at Bah Humbug this week is stockings - and yes they mean Christmas stockings!! This had to be a fairly quick card this week as I'm still playing catchup after my busy schedule recently.  I printed the image  and the word from Docrafts Forever Friends CD.  the image was printed twice and the stocking and ribbon have been cut out and layered up and of course I had to add some glitter.  Background paper is from my stash and I think it is Papermania from a few years ago.

Forgotten Friday 12

My card for Judith's Forgotten Friday Challenge this week is a twisted easel using several 'forgotten' elements.  I was looking for something amongst my stash last week when I came across a large pack of twelve by twelve papers which I bought as a special offer at least two years ago, put them away tidily at the time and would you believe the pack hadn't even been opened!!  Another thing I've been using again recently is my alcohol inks which had been sitting on the shelf unused for ages.  So - background paper from my stash; a tag cut out in mirri card embossed with a text embossing folder and then dabbed with alcohol inks. Onto this I've popped a paper rose which I made for a demonstration this time last year and has been sitting in my 'flower' box since then; a strip of card stamped using a text stamp by Hero Arts (again unused for a while) and finally some eyelash yarn left over from a scarf I knitted a couple of years ago - I knew I would find a use for the oddment some time. All these forgotten elements have been put together to make this twisted easel card, adding a swirl and sentiment.  Thanks Judith for encouraging the use of these neglected items and I know I have many more buried away in my craft room.

Less is More Week 10

Well I've had such a hectic week and I've only just about made it with my Less is More challenge this week which is to make a one layer card with emphasis on the sentiment.  I decided to make a scrapling this time  - for those who may not know (and I didn't until recently) this is a small card made from the scrap left over when you cut a square card from an A4 sheet.  Yet again I've been tempted by a set of free stamps on a magazine - these are from Pink Petticoat and this is just one of the sentiment ones stamped with Versafine and coloured with Copic pens.  This was incredibly quick to make but would you believe that as I was putting the stamp back in the packet I dropped it into my rubbish bin which was full of all the usual tiny scraps of paper, backing strips from  DS tape and all the other scrappy bits I throw away.  As the bin was quite full it took me far longer to find the tiny clear stamp than it did to make and colour the card!!

 

Cupcakes

Today's card has a row of cupcakes cut using a Papermania die which seemingly has hundreds of tiny pieces on it although in reality it isn't quite that many but there are several bases, icing pieces and lots of cherries, candles etc so this means putting tiny pieces of card on the die to get the various colours.  The iced sections were cut from coloured paper/card and then run through a tiny Xyron sticker maker (the X-shaped one) and then glittered. Background paper is also from Papermania as is the scalloped border (another die).  The sentiment was produced on the computer and cut out using a Nellies die.  The flowers were cut and embossed using a Nellies flower punch and these were glittered by the same method as the icing sections. This card was another of my demonstration samples.

Bah Humbug Challenge 14

The folks at Bah Humbug this week are asking for candy canes which has caused me a bit of a problem actually finding any as I knew I certainly don't have any stamps with them so it was another trawl through seasonal CDs.  I've used an elf from Polkadoodles Jingle Jangle Christmas and cut out a separate candy cane from the same CD for him to hold; there was also a suitable border on the  CD and that is where I found the background paper.  The greeting was printed from My Craft Studio.
