I spotted this pendant in the last issue of Bead magazine and thought I'd like to make one for myself. The design is by Diana Fitzgerald and the original also incorporates a tassel which I decided wasn't for me unless it was going to be a handbag charm instead of a necklace. It is made using size 11 Delica beads and the embellishment in the centre is a pretty button which I spotted in my local shop and seemed just right. The button is needed because the design is made from 12 tiny beaded triangles joined together which leaves a hole in the centre which is better filled. My apologies that it isn't hanging nicely but because it has turned into a dreary afternoon I had to resort to scanning it instead of taking a photograph.
I set off this morning in sunshine to meet some friends for lunch and while we were enjoying a lovely lunch complete with plenty of crafty chat the weather turned dull on us but at least it is still dry so not all bad. I really have to go in search of my card making mojo which seems to have disappeared for the time being and needs to return so that I can get on with using up some of my 'stash'.
Love the design Val, so pretty and the button is perfect!

Having seen this pendant in the flesh over lunch today its is stunning and the photo doesn't do it justice at all, the beads are so beautiful....
ReplyDeleteReally enjoy today.thank you

A beautiful pendant Val, love the colours. I think I would be with you regarding the tassel. You may not be card making Val, but at least you're still crafting one way, or another.

That is so pretty Val. Love the colours. Hugs, Jenny x
ReplyDeleteHi Val, I'm finally getting back to normal routine (or will be tomorrow when Oh is back at work after two days off this week). I know what you mean about mojo disappearing. I think I'm finally getting mine back after really struggling before Christmas. At least you have other ways of releasing your creativity and this pendant is gorgeous. I've said it before but I so admire your beading skills. You were right I think about both the button and the tassel.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a lovely Christmas and wish you all the best for 2013, albeit a little late, lol!
Hugs
Lesley Xx
I was lucky enough to see the beading whilst Val was button shopping - it really is lovely & the button suits it just right!
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope your card mojo comes back soon, although I think a break does us all good sometimes.
ReplyDeleteThis looks gorgeous with the button - certainly cannot imagine it with a tassel though (more punk rock style to my thinking for a necklace). The colours are lovely & your hanging mechanism compliments it beautifully.
