Afternoon Tea

Afternoon tea appears to be one of the fashionable things to do nowadays and it seems to come with all the trimmings although it is not something I've experienced.  For one thing I don't like tea and never drink it 😉   Anyway I came across some tea party themed dies in my collection which had never been out of their packaging even though I've had them so long that I can't remember if they were a magazine gift or maybe they were part of a special offer at the time. It occurs to me that I could link my card to a challenge I've not taken part in before - NBUS - Never Been Used Schtuff .  As luck would have it I have a paper pad with suitable designs and I chose the one with teapots and cups.  I then die cut a circle, a cream doily, square stitched frame and sentiment strips and, of course, the all important teapot and cups using a selection of card scraps.  Why not follow the link and take a look at this challenge and perhaps have a go. There is a very apt quote at the top of the page which says it all for me - I wonder why so many of us purchase crafty items and then don't actually use them 🤣🤣

Background - Tea Dance Pad from Craftwork Cards (no longer in existence)
Doily - die from Papermania/Docraft (again no longer existing)
Tea Set - die set by Crafter's Companion from some years back
Stitched Square Frame - Noble Stitched Squares from Creative Expressions

  1. Hi Val,
I also have a friend that doesn't like tea too.
In the lockdown a while ago it was my Birthday and Mother's day so as my Son was my only person who could visit he brought me a cream tea bought and packed bu a cafe who was doing this for people's celebartions.
We shared it together and it was very lovely and was a welcome after being on my own.
I bought a cream tea voucher recently for my DIL 50th as my Son said she would love that.
Well after all that I love your wonderful card it's brilliantly crafted and reminds me of my lovely cream tea.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  2. We just love a sale, Val! Everything is getting so expensive that a sale is especially irresistible. I know that's my weakness, although I am getting better at looking away as I've gotten older ... and I've got less space in the Playhouse!🫢Your card is a fantastic representation of afternoon tea and how cool that you had the perfect pp for the background! I also love the different angles of your design. Thank you for the shoutout and for inspiring everyone at NBUS! I look forward to seeing you again. Hugs, Darnell

  3. A such a pretty card, Val. The patterned paper and doily make a perfect background for your lovely tea pot and cups. I’ve had several afternoon teas with friends, although I much prefer the savoury part than the sweet. Thank you for sharing your card over in the NBUS Challenge and remember, you can share as many cards as you like each month, so a good excuse to look out some more of your NBUS stash.

  4. Great card Val, I don’t drink tea either, but guess what?! I had afternoon tea at lunch time (!) with friends yesterday! Only go for the cake and scones, and sandwiches hahah, and now take something to wrap left overs! Xx

  6. Way to use your NBUS to make such a fun tea party card! That paper is just perfect! BTW, I'm fairly certain it was your post that inspired me to use my twinkling H2O's, so thanks! I love them all over again :)
