Another New Challenge

I spotted a link (thanks Viv) to another new challenge for 2019, this time from the CAS people (Clean and Simple) who have decided to bring the use of stencils to the fore.  There are going to be a succession of techniques featured showing various ways to use stencils which I'm sure many of us have but fail to use as often as we could.  You can find the blog HERE if you want to go along and see what this is all about.

The first challenge is to use the stencil in a basic way by sponging ink through and of course the card has to be in the CAS style which is a little out of my comfort zone but I do have a go now and then.  I started by die cutting an oval from a piece of scrap paper to use as a mask to add some light colouring to the card before sponging one of the colours through a leafy stencil from my collection.  Next I stamped the bird and the sentiment with the aid of the Misti.  Finally a little border was cut and adhered because I felt it just needed a little something extra - hope it still classes as CAS!!

Time to pop along and take a look following the links above and then maybe looking at your own stencil collection.

Stencil - from Imagination Crafts
Inks - Distress Oxide Picked Raspberry and Fossilized Amber
Sentiment - from a Stampin' Up set
Bird - stamp from Elusive Images (very old) still available from chocolate Baroque
Border - Memory Box Tessatina die

  1. Am so pleased you had a go! I know you say CAS is out of your comfort zone but believe me a couple of years ago I was the same - if you go back in years on my blog you will see- now I just love CAS cards!
Your card is so pretty, the border is lovely (it would have looked just as good without the border as well)- but Stenciling, Stamping and Die Cutting are all the elements so a great job! x

  2. Beautiful Val! I LOVE the masked and softly sponged oval with the stenciled leaves on top. The bird looks right at home perched on a branch among the leaves. The die-cut border adds some texture. Great design! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Stencil!
