A is for Art

This year I've signed up for a an alphatags swap with Chocolate Baroque Guild and as the name suggests we are working our way through the alphabet (two letters most months with a couple of three letter months) so that at the end of the year we have a selection of tags to make into a tag book.  I have jotted down some ideas for most of the letters but must say that a couple of them could cause a bit of serious thinking later on in the year!!

I've chosen  A for ART and have used resist technique with Versamark ink pad and clear embossing powder for the basis of this tag which started out as a piece of white card.  The  ART sentiment was stamped onto the white card and embossed, followed by a light sponging with Distress inks.  I next stamped a floral swirl stamp and again embossed before adding more ink sponging and some overstamping using the same stamp.  The flower was made from Tim Holtz kraft glassine, scrunched and coloured with Distress ink and a light spray of copper Glimmer Mist; card for the die cut leaves was coloured before cutting.  Details of stamps and materials used are at the end of what seems to be turning into quite a long post somehow. I'll show you the B tag tomorrow - I wasn't sure if we were to add ribbons because of putting them in the post but have done so for the time being.

Tim Holtz large tag die, Tattered Flowers die and Tickets die
Distress inks in Dusty Concorde, Milled Lavendar, Mustard Seed and Wild Honey

  4. absolutely gorgeous Val - great idea too! So glad someone else added flowers, was worried they may be too dimensional for a tag book - I didn't add ribbons as I thought they may cause problems with the book ring holding everything together - looking forward to'b' now!

  7. Love the colours of this & your ribbons look super with it. That Artistic Affirmations plate looks like it will become an essential (oh dear the collection grows rather rapidly these days). like the look of that ticket die too; must investigate that avenue as I've not done anything like that. I'd not thought how the ribbons would work in the tag on a book ring either...some food for thought there.

Looking forward to seeing your next one - I know roughly how to set about my B but have been out all day today.

  8. I love your tag Val, the colours are great and the stamps are great too. I added some ribbon to mine too as i thought people could then decide for themselves whether to include it in the final tag book or not

  9. What a beauty Val. Fabulous background and colours and I love the flower and leaves. I've used ribbon on my tags too and a dangly bead trim on one. I decided I wouldn't mind them on tags I receive so hope others won't either. I've written ideas for the rest of the alphabet in my little notebook but have to admit one or two letter have me really struggling for ideas and even when I've thought of something finding stamps to fit the theme will be very difficult, lol! I mean, I don't have an 'xray' stamp, lolol!!!
